What Is a US B1/B2 Visitor Visa?
The B1/B2 is a combined temporary visitor visa covering two closely related purposes.
B-1 is primarily associated with temporary business activities, while B-2 generally covers tourism, visiting relatives or friends, vacations and certain other temporary visits.
For example, a traveler might apply for a B1/B2 visa if they intend to:
* Visit relatives or friends in the United States
* Take a vacation or sightseeing trip
* Attend certain business meetings or conferences
* Participate in permitted short-term business activities
* Receive certain medical treatment
* Attend social events or visit attractions
* Take a short trip for another qualifying visitor purpose
The visa does not automatically give someone permission to work, study in a degree program or permanently remain in the United States.

Who Can Apply for a US B1/B2 Visitor Visa?
There is no simple income figure or bank balance that guarantees approval.
Instead, the consular officer considers the applicant’s circumstances and whether the person qualifies for the visa under U.S. law.
Your application should present a believable and consistent picture of:
• Why you want to visit the United States
• How long you intend to stay
• How you will pay for the trip

One of the most important mistakes applicants make is thinking that having an invitation letter automatically makes a visa application strong. It does not.
