4: What Happens If You Apply Before Your Permit Expires?
This is one of the most important parts.
If you submit your extension application before your current study permit expires, you can generally remain in Canada while IRCC processes the application.
You can also continue studying under the conditions of your original permit while you wait for a decision, provided you meet the requirements for maintained status.
So don’t wait until the expiry date has already passed.
