5. Tailor Your Resume to the Job
This takes more effort, but it can make a huge difference.
Don’t send exactly the same résumé to every employer.
If you aree applying for a warehouse position, emphasize things like:
1. Inventory
2. Order processing
3. Shipping and receiving
4. Safety
5. Physical work
6. Teamwork
If you are applying for an IT position, then highlight:
* Technical skills
* Troubleshooting
* Software
* Projects
* Certifications
* Relevant experience
Your resume should speak to the job you’re applying for.
6. Use Canadian Job Titles Where Appropriate
Sometimes your previous job title may not immediately make sense to a Canadian employer.
For example, you might have worked under a title that is not commonly used in Canada.
So, Don’t invent a completely different job.
Instead, you can clarify the role in a way that makes the responsibilities understandable.
What matters is that the employer can quickly understand what you actually did.
