7. Be Careful With Personal Information
A Canadian résumé generally does not need information such as:
1. Your age
2. Date of birth
3. Marital status
4. Religion
5. National identification numbers
6. A photograph, unless specifically appropriate for the role
Your résumé should focus on your professional qualifications, not unnecessary personal details.
8. Don’t Lie About Your Experience
This sounds obvious, but it is worth saying.
If you worked somewhere for two years, write two years.
If you do not have a particular certification, don’t put it on your resume because you think it will improve your chances.
Especially if you’re applying from outside Canada, inaccurate information can create serious problems later.
A shorter honest resume is better than an impressive resume built on information you can not defend.
