8. Halifax, Nova Scotia
Halifax has become increasingly popular with international students and newcomers.
It’s a beautiful coastal city with several universities and colleges, including Dalhousie University and Saint Mary’s University.
However, you don’t automatically assume Halifax is “cheap.”
Housing costs have increased significantly, so affordability depends heavily on where you live and whether you share accommodation.
Still, compared with Canada’s largest metropolitan areas, Halifax can be worth researching, especially if you’re interested in Atlantic Canada.
So, Before Choosing an “Affordable” Canadian City,
Here’s something I wish more prospective international students considered.
Don’t choose a city based on rent alone.
A city with cheaper accommodation might have higher transportation costs, fewer job opportunities or require you to travel farther to campus.
