4: Your Job or Business Information Is Important
This is another section you should not rush.
The DS-160 asks about your current occupation and may request information about your employer, business, previous work, or education.
If you are employed, then you enter accurate information about your job.
If you run a business, describe your actual business.
If you are self-employed, unemployed, retired, or a student, answer honestly.
There is no benefit in creating a job that does not exist.
One thing experienced applicants often learn is that trying to make your life look more impressive than it actually is can create unnecessary complications.
So, Your application does not need to describe a perfect life.
It needs to describe your real situation.
The Department of State notes that some applicants may be asked to provide information about their current and previous education and employment history while completing the DS-160.
