6: Slow Down When You Reach the Security Questions
By the time many people reach the security and background questions, they are tired.
They would have spent a long time answering questions and just want to click “No” and finish.
This is exactly when you should slow down.
Read each question carefully.
Do not answer based on what you think the question means.
If you do not understand something, take time to seek reliable clarification before submitting your application.
Most questions on the DS-160 must be answered, except where the form specifically marks a question as optional or where an appropriate “Does Not Apply” response is permitted.
