5: Previous Travel and Visa History: Don’t Try to Hide Anything
This is where accuracy becomes especially important.
The DS-160 may ask about:
* Previous visits to the United States
* Previous visa applications
* Previous visa refusals
* International travel history
If you have applied for a US visa before and were refused, answer honestly.
A previous refusal does not automatically mean that every future visa application will be refused.
However, providing false information about your immigration or visa history can create more serious problems.
The same applies to previous US travel.
If you are unsure about dates, check your passport stamps, old visas, or other travel records.
Again, do not guess simply because you want to finish the form quickly.
The official DS-160 guidance warns applicants to answer questions accurately and completely, as errors or incomplete information can lead to corrections and, in some cases, the need to reschedule a visa interview.
