4. Look beyond full scholarships
Here is something I wish more students understood.
A scholarship does not have to pay for 100% of your education to be useful.
Some Canadian institutions offer entrance awards or other scholarships that reduce tuition.
For example, an award of a few thousand Canadian dollars may not cover your entire education, but it can still reduce the amount you need to finance yourself.
So search for:
* Entrance scholarships
* International student awards
* Merit scholarships
* Undergraduate scholarships
* Faculty or program-specific awards
* Automatic entrance awards
The exact availability and value will depend on the institution.
5. Your grades matter
If you are hoping to compete for academic scholarships, your academic record is important.
You Don’t simply ask:
“Does this college accept WAEC?”
Also ask:
“Are my grades competitive for the scholarship I’m targeting?”
Some awards have minimum academic requirements, while others can be highly competitive.
So, If your WAEC result is strong, make sure you present it properly and provide the documents the institution requests.
