Your college’s scholarship page should be one of your first stops; but it should not necessarily be your only one.
Also research:
*. Provincial scholarship opportunities
*. Government-funded programs
*. Private foundations
*. Community organizations
*. Professional associations
*. Non-profit organizations
*. Scholarships offered in your home country
*. Scholarships connected to your intended field
*. And be careful with websites promising “guaranteed Canadian scholarships.”
No legitimate scholarship requires you to pay someone simply because they promise to guarantee an award.
9. Watch the deadlines carefully
Scholarship deadlines aren’t always the same as admission deadlines.
You could successfully apply for admission and still miss a scholarship because its deadline passed earlier.
So, Create a simple spreadsheet containing:
1. School
2. Program
3. Scholarship
4. Deadline
5. Requirements
6. Status
7. College/University
8. Your program
9. Award name
10. Date
11. Documents
12. Applied/Not applied
It may look simple, but it can prevent a lot of unnecessary mistakes.
