The State Department says that if you cannot cover all the costs of your trip, you may show evidence that another person will cover some or all of the costs.
But remember:
Someone in America promising to take care of you does not automatically guarantee approval.
For a visitor visa, applicants are assessed based on their own circumstances and ties abroad. The State Department also says that a letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not required for a visitor visa.
